## What is IHM software?

IHM software maintains a ship's Inventory of Hazardous Materials — the documented
record of hazardous materials in a vessel's structure and equipment that is
required for safe, compliant ship recycling. NOZZLE maintains IHM Part I as part
of [Inventory Management](/solutions/maritime-inventory-management-software/).

An IHM is only compliant if it stays current. NOZZLE maintains IHM Part I against
the vessel's onboard location structure and records hazardous substances per
installation, so new materials are captured as they come aboard. Items that may
contain hazardous materials are flagged as IHM-relevant in purchasing and stores,
and a Material Declaration and Supplier's Declaration of Conformity — or a Zero
Declaration — is attached to the order and tracked to installation. NOZZLE
produces IHM lists and exports date-ranged update packages, keeping the inventory
survey-ready and aligned with the Hong Kong International Convention and the EU
Ship Recycling Regulation.

IHM works with
[stock control](/solutions/stock-control-software/),
[purchase order management](/solutions/purchase-order-management-software/) and
[planned maintenance](/solutions/pms-planned-maintenance-system/). Book a

## Capabilities

### A living IHM, not a one-off certificate
_IHM Part I Maintenance_

An IHM is only compliant if it stays current as materials come aboard. NOZZLE maintains the ship's Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM Part I) against an onboard location structure, so new installations are captured as they happen rather than reconstructed before a survey.

* IHM Part I maintained against the vessel's location structure * Hazardous substances recorded per installation * Cross-location view of where each hazardous substance is present * Full IHM history retained (records are never hard-deleted)

### Capture declarations at the point of purchase
_Declarations & Documents_

Items that may contain hazardous materials can be flagged as IHM-relevant in purchasing and stores, so a Material Declaration (MD) and Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) — or a Zero Declaration — is captured with the order and follows the item on board.

* IHM-relevant flag on equipment and spare parts * MD / SDoC or Zero Declaration attached to purchase items * Hazardous-material entries tracked from delivery to installation

### Ready for survey, class and recycling
_Reporting & Export_

NOZZLE produces IHM lists and exports date-ranged IHM update packages, so the inventory can be shared with class and kept ready for a ship recycling facility at end of life.

* Printable IHM installation and hazardous-substance lists * Date-ranged IHM update package export * Records aligned to Hong Kong Convention and EU Ship Recycling Regulation

## Frequently asked questions

### What is IHM software?
IHM software maintains a ship's Inventory of Hazardous Materials — the documented record of hazardous materials present in a vessel's structure and equipment, required for compliant ship recycling. NOZZLE maintains IHM Part I and is part of [Inventory Management](/solutions/maritime-inventory-management-software/).

### Which regulations require an IHM?
An IHM Part I is required under the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships and the EU Ship Recycling Regulation. NOZZLE helps keep the inventory current and survey-ready rather than reconstructed before an inspection.

### How does NOZZLE capture hazardous-material declarations?
Items that may contain hazardous materials are flagged as IHM-relevant in purchasing and stores, and a Material Declaration (MD) and Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) — or a Zero Declaration — is attached to the order and tracked from delivery to installation.

### Can NOZZLE export an IHM update?
Yes. NOZZLE produces IHM lists and exports date-ranged IHM update packages that can be shared with class and kept ready for a recycling facility at end of life.
